Aquarena Sprint Triathlon Race Instructions

Parking on race morning will be across Aquarena Drive from The Aquarena Center in the student parking lots. Transition opens at 6:00 AM and closes at 7:00 AM followed by the pre race meeting at the Groves. The year round temp of the water is 72-75, so wet suits will be legal.

The Swim: NO SWIMMING BEFORE OR AFTER THE RACE. We will have a time trial start with one person over the start mat approximately every three seconds. With that note, this is a lake with a lot of aquatic life. If you get off course, do not be too surprised if you swim through some hydrilla or other plant life. Don’t panic, just keep swimming and you will get through it. Our lifeguards will be there to make sure you are safe and we will cut back the plants as best we can before the race. Approximately 50 meters from the finish, the lake has a shallow spot for about 5-10 meters with tall plants, so be extra cautious in this area.

T1: After you exit the water, you will run about 50 meters to the transition area; an aide station will be here. The swim in and run out will be at the end of the parking lot that is furthest from the park entrance. The bike exit and entrance will be on the entrance side of the parking lot.

The Bike: The course is a little bumpy in some areas, but smoothes out for most of it. We will have police protection at the major intersections, but this is an open course so please be careful of traffic at all times. There are a few rolling hills throughout the course; however, overall it is nicely graded will decent road conditions. The roads will be swept in problem areas yet special caution should be taken to avoid any falls, this means listening to volunteers if they say sharp turn or recommend slowing down.

The Run: You will run down Aquarena Dr. through Sewell Park and back. For safety reasons, anyone running on the road and not on the sidewalk or grass will be issued a penalty. The course will be marked where we want you to run. One aide station with water and Gatorade will be at the run start/finish and two more on the course.

The after party and awards will be at Aquarena Center. We will have water Gatorade, bagels, fruit, sausage wraps and other goodies at the finish.

Chip timing will be provided by RunFar Timing. Results will be posted on http://www.run-far.com/ and  www.seidelproductions.com.

If you have any family or friends that would like to volunteer, please contact nick@seidelproductions.com

We hope everyone has a great race!
