Edmund Otto Seidel

Born in 1922 after his parents came from Germany to New Braunfels, Edmund used one of the first motion cameras to film downtown New Braunfels when he was sixteen. Edmund later became a Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America. Ed, the first in the family to get a college education, graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. He was also Captain of the swim team and won many races. While receiving an invitation to the Olympic Trials Ed also received an invitation to WWII. After serving in the Navy, were he met Dolly, his future wife, he returned to New Braunfels. At a Boy Scout reunion his old scout master said "Ed, I always imagined you building things." So, Ed went back to UT for his Masters in Engineering and later opened the reputable Seidel and Associates. Some permanent structures with the Seidel name on them are two bridges on the San Antonio River Walk. Ed also served as President for the Beethoven Mannerchor, the oldest signing group in Texas. Now he lives back in New Braunfels with his new wife Vera, who has been part of Seidel Studio since she has been in the USA.
